I have been learning PHP for about two years. Most of what I have learned has been since I left school. I received an A.S. degree from a junior college in Computer Science, along with a certification as an "Internet Author" (I will leave the rant on the fore mentioned for another day).
During my PHP class I learned some very good items for getting started, most of which were read from a book. We covered the basics of PHP and touched on most of the components of the language. The final project was to take what we had learned and create a site that used PHP. We were to use as many parts of the language we had covered as possible in the time allowed 2 weeks. A majority of the class made a blog site, as did I. I thought that I knew a lot about PHP until I started a new project for myself.
After graduation I started a project that I thought would be easy; I had no knowledge of frameworks, Content Management Systems, or even how to use PHP Object Oriented Programming practices. I realized that I would need a way to learn the things that I didn't get in the class. This is where D.I.C. came into my life in a big way.
I have been reading the posts in the PHP section of D.I.C since then. I have learned so much from D.I.C. that I felt the need to write this blog post. So, to make a long story short, Thank you to all that have helped me along my travels in the world of PHP programming.
