Stuck with Metro

Well I already decided to skip Windows 8, but here I am again wondering if this is the fate of Windows and eventually we'll all have to jump ship in a few years. This news coming at the same time Steam is porting their gear to Linux makes it the best time for me to consider writing an updated series of tutorials that considers self-contained environments for everything in making the game under Linux. Not that we're trying to make Linux a popular game platform (people have been trying for years), but that we won't really have much of a choice anymore and the platform is actually easier to write games for than you think.

Well, once I find a computer for a dedicated Linux environment, I might start a new series of tutorials that work with the diverse Linux environments rather than just Ubuntu- I'm probably going to base it all on Debian.

This idea has my approval! I'd love some tutorials for making games under Linux, as I use Linux for school and would like to be able to use it for my hobby-programming (games) as well :D

I started messing with Allegro and would certainly be interested in reading about not just Linux game development, but cross-platform game development.

My first tutorials will already do that (I put them in my signature)~ I'm just going to write an updated version that's more relevant for Debian Linux in 2012. It's also actually going to assume you have nothing but Linux, something my old tutorials don't.
