I Am Now Really A Software Engineer

Icon 2 Comments
So, about a month ago, things came to a head and I handed in my resignation at the BBC. I had a job offer from another company, which promised me a pure developer role, unlike the role I'm currently working at the Beeb.

Well, the BBC came back with a counter-offer, part of which was the promise to move into a flagship project team, as a software developer. I accepted, and so I remain at the BBC, with a move into this project team at the end of the month.

The move should be good; I'm being put on a bunch of training courses for Java, Spring, Ruby and BDD to get me up to speed with the technologies and methodologies used in the flagship project. I will finally become a 'real' software engineer, something I've wanted to be since I was a teenager.

Good stuff. As a regular Beeb listener, I'm pleased to know their tech is in good hands.

(and I like to think of you palling around with Nicholas Parsons and Jeremy Hardie and all of them... I know, but don't disillusion me, okay? :) )
