Keeping Updated

Recently I have become aware of the necessity of programmers to keep up with modern ways of working. How many of the following are you not confident in:

* Test Driven and Behaviour Driven Development (TDD, BDD)
* Amazon Web Services
* node.js and jquery
* Android and iOS development
* mongoDB and Hadoop
* Agile/Scrum/XP methodologies

I am seeing a lot of these terms in modern job adverts for developers, that I was not seeing a few years ago. For me, being a programmer is about keeping current with new technology, and learning it before your skillset becomes outdated. I'm not saying that you won't be able to get a job in say, Java, in 10 years time. But it will not be as popular in job adverts as more emerging technologies, and the jobs you would get in it, likely won't be so much interesting new feature development, they will be maintenance work. So you should position yourself to take advantage of new languages and development practices.
