Well, this is a little off topic for this blog, but I've decided that I need to say this:
Reputation really shouldn't be given or taken away as much in the nightmare in code, games, caffeine lounge, corner cubicle, student campus, etc. This is because posts here will be less valuable by nature, and carry less weight. You might want to give reputation if the post is amazingly helpful, or take it away if its just trolling (although because of the nature of the nightmare in code forum, post there will be more critical). All three of my reputation gives/take aways have been in the nightmare in code section. I personally find this somewhat disturbing, that people would treat reputation like its worthless like that.
In other words, think before you reputate. Don't just rage reputate or give away reputation. Reputation is valuable and should be worked for.

It happens.. it's a number that some people think enforces group and social mores. I wouldn't get too worked up over it.
