What follows is a random series of thoughts on various features used over the last week:

It has both a front and rear facing camera, 1.9 and 8 Megapixels respectively. The front is great for a quick snap that you can see at the time (i.e. your face!) but I found the results to be a bit blurry.

The screen is pretty, almost a little too pretty. It is a little dim depending on what you're doing, but I haven't found it prohibitive in any manner. There is a neat feature where the front facing camera scans for eyes and will prevent the screen from dimming if it thinks you're still looking at it. Creepy, but handy.

Netflix and HBO Go look great on the small screen, but I do plan on getting an accessory to send it to the television.

Streaming Pandora in the car is glorious. The speaker is great, loud, no distortions.

Calls I've made were quite clear, but I suppose this is more of a carrier issue really.

The S-Voice (Siri knockoff) worked great when I tried it: "Navigate to some place". "Lookup some contact". On the same token I was pleased with the GPS app.

Ice Cream Sandwich is feature rich, easy to navigate, and fun to play around with. I don't have a lot of past experience with prior versions of Android, so can't really speak on that point.

Battery lasts all day streaming to and from work, checking stuff during the day, etc... Even so, I bought a car charger just to have on hand.

The only real issue I've had with the phone is wifi connectivity. It kept disconnecting, reconnecting, and re-authenticating with my home router, even if it was two feet from it.

Turns out Samsung is aware of the issue and it has occurred across all carriers. I fixed my issue by dialing *#0011# to enter "service mode", went to the wifi settings, and turned off power saving mode. For some reason this is a hidden setting that is not bundled with the other power saving features. Retarded, but hopefully this will be fixed in time via a software update.

When it works though...

Whooo!

If you're in the market for a new phone and are not in Apple's camp (I've never owned an iPhone, so I have no frame of reference for comparison), I would highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy S III.

I had a first generation Evo until it hit the floor and the screen shattered. Since my contract was up, I got the Galaxy S3. I was completely blown away. It's the best phone I've ever seen by a damned sight, and runs circles around my friends' iPwns. I've rarely seen envy on an iPwn owner's face when looking at a non-Apple device, but there it was. :)

my uncle just got one of these; the screen is huge but it makes reading really easy.

I was going to ask if S3 > iPhone.

Wait...
