Hey, Rick Moton here. I'm currently a student at Georgia Tech where I study digital systems and computer engineering. I enjoy building the robots and tweaking and assembling the digital devices, ya kno, hardware geek type stuff. But I am here to get in touch with my feminine, I MEAN, software side. Because obviously, you can't do anything with the hardware without software and code telling it what to do. So maybe some of you brave selfless dream.in.code people can help me conquer my ignorance in this matter. THX

*edit: Adjusted font, no need to make big font. We read it the same either way. Thanks! smile.gif

Welcome to Dream.In.Code Rick! Glad you could join us from the great state of Georgia. One of our admins when to school in Georgia. As for the feminine crack, software can be pretty hardcore and very male. If it isn't for you, it is because you are not doing it right. We try to get a long with our hardware brethren from across the CS field. Together we conquer the world!

Hope you find some answers here and come to like the software too. Feel free to hang out with us in the Caffeine Lounge forum until you have a question. Enjoy! smile.gif

Haha THX OliveOyl3471. I'm not really sure what I should do next to be honest. They expect you to be some expert in C and C++ here @ GT before your junior year and i'm kinda... not. Are there some skill sharpeners or something I should start doing?

Welcome to Dream.In.Code

Thanks for joining Dream.In.Code, hope to see you around the forums someday smile.gif

You have just stepped into the greatest programming community on the Internet, we have experts for just about every mainstream language, and even some languages that aren't so mainstream, so the level of expertise is second to none. All will be more than willing to help, as long as you too are willing to put forth the effort to solve your problem, and to go along the road to becoming a better programmer smile.gif

I would like to ask that when making a programming question that you first place your code inside code tags like this code.gif . This makes it much easier to read through large pieces of code, and keeps your post a little more organized.

When posting a programming question first make sure you're in the first forum, then make sure you provide as much information as you can think of that would make it easier for a 2nd pair of eyes to help you debug your issue.

If you happen to get bored (I know, it's real hard to do here) you can check out our Off Topic Caafeine Lounge, the Corner Cubical, dedicated to industry talk, or the Student Campus, dedicated to all things for students.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact myself or another staff member, and we will be more then happy to answer any questions you might have.

You could try reading through the C++ tutorials. That may give you a hint, as to what you can do with the language. Also, we have lots of C++ snippets, and if you get stuck on a problem with your code, you can ask in the C and C++ forum. Or read through the questions and see how many you can answer (correctly).

I hope this helps. smile.gif
