Basically you pay for what you get. And with Syntax colouring and being able to indent multiple lines, and a host of other things like temple macros. I don't know how I survived without it.
I programme in VFP and Delphi (both of which have very good IDE's - but I still ocassionally take the code into UltraEdit. It's searching is very good. Brings up a list of all instances - in context.

My brother! Ultraedit is the shiznit. I have been working on UE since version 2. It has solved so many problems for me that I can't live without it. Column editing, syntax highlighting for every language or file type under the sun, Hex edit, really large files (open a 3 gig DAT file? Sure.), macros, it does it all.
Well, id have to say my own text editor is my favorite. i made it so it automaticly saves it as a .php or .html or .aspx. and then i put on a launch button that opens the file as a html file. it actually comes in handy.
