Does anyone know if this is possible? If so how to do it?

Laptop (Windows XP)
Main PC (Vista Home Premium)


Laptop (no wireless)-> Cabled Network-> Crossover Network cable ->Network card on Main PC->Wireless Connection->Wireless router ->Internet

1) New wireless card (too expensive)
2) To from router for direct connection.

If you have a router, why don't you just hook up both devices to it?

It's possible, but it'll be a huge headache as you'll need to configure the computer to route traffic from the router to the laptop.

You would end up with the routers DCHP assigning an address to the computer on one subnet, then on another separate subnet, you'll be routing traffic to the laptop.

(Internet) --> Router --> Computer <-- Laptop

If you turn on "Internet Connection Sharing" on the desktop, you can do it with no hassle. Should be under the Ethernet connection in Network Connections.

As long as you have a lap for it to go on top of you will be fine...

yes the internet connection sharing thing should take care of it for you. However I could never get that crap to work for me but others have.
