Hello everyone. I'm a Junior CS major, and I'm just now starting to get into game programming. I just finished up a Bejeweled clone in XNA, and I've been working with a club from college on a 2D platformer in Flash. Not sure what my next personal project will be, but the club is thinking about making a sequel to our current project in XNA.
Wats Up Everybody, tring to teach myself game programming using visual c++ compiler. im taking a c++ programming course at gameinstitute.com Im also toying around with Dark GDK and directx, hope to get started on my first game next month
Hey everyone, I'm a game development student at Full Sail University. I'm more than halfway through the program and I'd be willing to help people with their problems.
I've been into game programming on and off for the last 7+ years. I started off with simple stuff like creating my own mods for Neverwinter nights. then got into scripting stuff for Kotor and Kotor:TSL. then I did it on a professional level for 2 and half years in torque and torque 2D. My current specialty is adding in save game functions and making game UI.
I've been looking to expand my knoweldge into open GL and Direct X programming. I'm also currently creating my own game engine from scratch just for the hell of it.
Hey everyone. I'm a junior year CS student mainly programming in C++ and VB.NET, but have just recently began creating games with C++. I've been really interested in creating games since I was a kid. For the past couple of months I have been learning DirectX from books, and the internet. I am currently working on small projects for learning purposes only(learning to work with collision, and sprite animations, ect). I plan on creating an entire game when I feel comfortable enough with DirectX. I also just found out that my university offers a XNA game programming class so I will definitely have to take that.
Hello, I am in my Sophomore year of high school and am in a national competition to build the best game. I have a team of 2 at the moment (I'm the only programmer) and we're making a simple RPG-style adventure.
I am programming the games with C++ and SDL as those are two of my strongest points. Glad to see the number of us is increasing as I may need some help! I'll try to keep poasted as soon as we get the project off the ground.
Yo. I'm Sam. I've been interested in making games since 6th grade, and fell in love with RPGMaker. I'd started like 5 different (And several over ambitious) projects, most Book-to-RPG conversions. One was a Digimon Conversion.
I noticed that I had more fun doing the Sprites and the Behind the scenes stuff more than making Levels.
So by the time that It came to make more than the first ten minutes of play, I'd get bored, and play another final fantasy, which would give me another idea, and it'd start all over again.
Very Recently, maybe 2 years ago, I got a hold of "teach yourself Game Programming in 24 hours!".
It opened my eyes to how hard it actually is.
I never finished that book.
Didn't like it.
So I dabbled in RPGMaker for a while longer, until I came across "cppgameprogramming.com". I made my way through the first tutorials, and couldn't comprehend it.
I was beginning to think my Passion wasn't for me. :0
But when college rolled around, I was thinking, "I understand stuff easily when there is a master sitting next to me guiding me, so I'll Take Programming at a University."
So I enrolled at Baylor University as a Computer Science Major on the Game Concentration Track.
Just 4 weeks ago, before I started Classes, I got an old textbook from Half-Price Books, and read through it, and felt like a bad-ass when I could make a random number guessing game. So I knew the passion was still holding.
After a few weeks of that, I made my way through cppgameprogramming.com's tutorials, and felt like more of a badass when I made a sakoban game.
I perused the forums, and saw someone mention DarkGDK. I checked it out, It looked quite easy, so I've been doing that sense then.
My current Project is a little ambitious, but I learn to swim best when drowning. I'm making a 2D side-scrolling puzzle game, similar to Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, and Exit, with Zelda elements thrown in. It's about a band's roadie, who has to stop this mad scientist from turning the world into mush. So, In a nutshell, a 2D Music-themed Zelda, that focuses on Puzzles, rather than fighting enemies.
tl;dr
My name is sam. I program in c++ and RPGMaker Using DarkGDK. XP
I have a small team called AEGD. Abyss Entertainment and Game Development I am currently working with Visual Studio 2008 and XNA 3.1 AEGD is working on 2 games and a compiler for our own language called Karma Shop. We are making an RPG called "the abyss" and a top-down shooter called "the venom of war". All of our games are submitted to Xbox Live Arcade.
Hi all and nice to meet ya's. Currently I am studying Cert IV in Software Development and heading into my Degree next year. Professionally I want to keep to application programming and other 'boring' coding, however as a hobby and a way to learn more I developing my 2d RPG in VB.net 2008 - So far so good.
I am rather new to the scene, but so far my RPG has the following:
Tile based map system
Basic colision detection for Player and Enemies
Currently working on colision between Player and Enemy - Thus far colision only works for terrain that is impassible.
Over my summer break I will be setting up a website, with screen shots, source code and development tracking for all to keep an eye on.
Well enough rambling from me... take care all.
Oh and thanks for the help when I have been stuck - you know who you are
