Hi,

I've got a database book which isn't really that great, i've recently looked at some reviews on this book by other people and it seems they are also having the same problem as i am.

I've studied databases at college before but as any other student, i found it boring and switched off during classes, however for the second year in my degree, databases are covered in almost all subjects. (The Horror I Know).

So i am wondering if anyone out there can give me some titles to database books, which meet these requirements:
  • Easy for Beginners to understand.
  • Covers small to medium sized databases .
  • It has to be based on Microsoft Access (thats what we cover in college - horrid i know)
  • Covers database topics in detail but doesn't repeat itself over and over (ERD, Normalization etc..).
  • Also has some exercises for the reader.
  • *Optional* - Solutions to any questions that the book may have.
Any help would be great and all books that people may recommend are welcome.

Thanks
Armanian

Hmm, maybe a SQL book would help you more than a book on Access. I've got a great one, but I can't find it @ the moment, lol.

I've always had good luck with the O'Reilly books. I've not read this one but I suppose it cant be too bad. http://www.amazon.com/Access-Database-Prog...k/dp/1565926269

I use Alison Balter's Access books and find them to be the best. They come with step by step and a CD with a db to practice the excersizes with. I think there are even a few for free onlin on Safari books now. Good Luck.
