Many of us developers have jobs, all of us have specific workplaces. Well, I was just curious, on what projects do you work, how do you work on them (what practices and tools are you using in the daily work), how your workplace looks like (pictures are welcome), what specific problems do you encounter during your work day and how do you cope with them? The list of questions can be very long, so just share your experiences (and pictures, if you want to). The benefit of this contest is not only a better understanding how the working conditions are in the IT field, but it will also facilitate the spread of better ideas of workplace organization and work practices.
What's the prize? The creator of the most interesting description (as chosen by the moderating/administrating team of Dream.In.Code) will get a 48 Hour Xbox Live Gold Trial Code. Just a little bit for a start. If you never played with an Xbox Live Gold before, you will be able to feel its benefits for a specific amount of time, including multiplayer gaming and many other features.
Specific rules: 1. You can submit as many entries as you want 2. Pictures CAN (not necessarily) count as bonus points 3. Your story should be from your own experience 4. If you post pictures, those should be your own, not copied from another web sites 5. Any user of Dream.In.Code can participate
I have an office to myself, with lockable doors. 3 desks, 5 computers (only 3 of them work), and a foosball table. I'm the junior programmer and IT Administrator. Our senior programmer (just the 2 of us), has a corner office to himself, we share a door, so he is in charge of one of my 2 lockable doors. I also have my own window, and a nice view of the building next to us, and the manufacturing yard out back. Right now, the seagulls are hatching on the roof, and the rabbits are running around on the grass, providing light entertainment.
Generally, I sit in #1 & wait for #2 to make noise that someone needs assistance. They bring in stuff like #3, & then when it's finished I slide their plastic through #4. When none of that is going on, I occupy myself with #5.
Ha! funny. I'm not really a tech related job, but .... oh well.
I posted a pic of my office before. I work as an engineering aide. Great fun. I make pretty pictures on the computer and print them out with Air Force logo's and give it to my boss. He likes them. ... Unfortunately, I usually have to make a database of all the stuff in the picture
((and by picture I mean an AutoCAD Electrical or EasyPower drawing )
i am working in IT Solution Company, in my office i have one computer my local call, one door from out site and one door to another room (Where i am saving my files) and also i have my 3 Designers in my office.
