About 4-5 days ago our Linksys router for some reason just stopped working. After calling Linksys for 2 days we finally get our desktop computer and my sister's laptop. Mine is the only one in the house that doesn't work. I am running Vista, they are both running XP. I never had a problem before 5 days ago. Here is the error message that I am getting when I try to connect my laptop to the internet:
QUOTE(Wireless Error)

Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point.

Any help would be appreciated!

Can you connect to the device with an ethernet cable? Try changing the channel, it's possible that you are picking up interference.

Wireless is always a little wonky.

My only thought would be that your Vista auto updated recently and it hosed you. In the early days of Vista, the OS imposed a minimum key length on WEP; basically bricking previous hardware. It's also possible that some setting was simply reset during an update. If you have a saved setting for the access point, manually delete it and rediscover it.

I have a Linksys gateway that turned wireless off once for a basically random reason. Make sure the setting is what you expect it to be. Keep in mind, Vista won't talk to a wireless point unless it negotiates the way it likes.

Good luck.

@no2pencil: I can sometimes get a signal when I plug it in directly, but when(if I do get connected) it would take about 2+ minutes just to load a page(other than google).

@baavgai: I have already tried deleting the entry then reconnecting, but also doesn't work.

I can successfully connect to the wireless at my dad's shop; I think that there is something messed up between my computer and the network at my house. A little while ago Comcast transitioned our neighborhood to Digital and messed up all of our TV's(excluding ones connected to a cable box) even though they were not analog tvs. Comcast said that they had changed their signal and that is why our tvs weren't working. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem, but a couple days after to a week later my problem started.

check to see that you are using the right frequency
e.g
802.11/n
802.11/g

Can you access your router's website [eg. http://192.168.0.1 for my router]. You should be able to configure the amount of different computers which can be attached to the router.

OK Thanks for everyone's help, but my mom's friend fixed it. Turns ou tit was just the router's channel that was wrong. It must have changed when we changed the firmware or reset the router. My internet works perfectly now.

*ahem* http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/index.ph...st&p=662678

Also, the wireless nodes will alter their channel to match the router. So it isn't that the channel was wrong, it was probably (as previously suggested) getting interference. Most likely from a newly introduced nearby wireless network.

WOW, I can't believe I missed that. I think I was reading the first part then replying, then getting distracted by YouTube or something else.

Thanks
