Bing is nice, but I distrust Microsoft's motives and I really like iGoogle. Bing definitely has a chance but Microsoft needs to play their cards right.

Not that I trust Microsoft, but do you really trust Google? They're monitoring far more about us than Microsoft, particularly if you (like me) use a lot of their services. Everything from our search behavior to the sites we visit is logged by Google's servers... its scary to think about.

In any event, I have noticed a huge jump in traffic to some of my sites from Bing. I don't know if it will knock Google out of the #1 search spot anytime soon, but it looks as though Microsoft took some cues from the Google search UI.

I wasn't talking about privacy. Microsoft has a history of making stupid decisions when it comes to compatibility. I would be very unsurprised if I open up Bing one day to find that it required Silverlight, or some other stupid nonsense.

Edit: Oops typo.

For the moment it looks pretty good, seems to be fast and (at least for the moment) it doesn't have a ton of ads (I can't see any) on every page (google may not have a ton, but it still has some).

Bing works fine for me. I really like the layout and the way search results are displayed (especially images). I think that after a short period of time it could get some of the 'search share' from Google. I just saw an add on cable regarding Bing, so I think if they will promote it right, it definitely can become very popular.

google stands on its own 2 feet and isnt as easily swayed by government. i remember when microsoft tried to install spyware as an automatic update at one point for quiet monitoring but users caught up to it. ytube is part of google and is sporting that human clock thing that covers half of its homepage. some argue that the ad makes the community lose shares of ownership to sprint. bing is impressive but microsoft is hard to rely on completely in any service.

Bing is very nice. I think more people will still use google because they're more just use because they just don't care, google is most likely their homepage.

Microsoft has a monopoly over everything in technology. So there is no need for playing cards. I speculate that Microsoft asked for something from Google and did not get it. Leading to Bing, their threat.

Bing's image and video search seems to be nicer than google's. It gives me better results than google....

But I think its too early to comment, let's wait and watch...

Not me,

I don't really like Bing, maybe I'm just to accustomed to Google, but I agree with Dineeshd; Let's wait and see.

I still use Google, but Bing feels like it has a 'clean' search. It runs smoothly, but I am, like many, so accustomed to Google that it would be hard to change.

My thoughts on Google...I shy away from anything that tries to piggy back it's way onto your pc, and google is about to become worse than AOL as far as that goes. I can't count the number of installers that include a "install google toolbar" option hidden from view nor how many times at work the google toolbar has fubared one of our web-based apps with their automatic pop-up blocker. I have the google website memorized (ha ha) and have live/bing as my default homepage. I'm starting to see signs that Microsoft is waking up and smelling the coffee, so I will not drop them yet.

I have set it as my standard search provider for the browser, but I still finding myself typing in goo (down arrow) (enter) and going to google a lot. I use both pretty often at this point.

I use it all the time, I think Microsoft has done a great job with it. In fact I may (on some days) use Bing more than I do Google

I like Bing. It might not be as feature rich as Google (yet), but the fact that it loads faster than the Google web-page makes it worthwhile in certain situations.
