How do I make a random mp3 from a specified folder on my HD play in the BG?

How do I DO it? I want to DOOOO it. C'mon guys. Help me DOOOOOOOOOOOOO it. frenchy.gif

I'm assuming you want to do this with HTML/Javascript since it's in this forum?!

Also, are you talking about playing MP3's from another location... like, you have your music on your home computer, but want to listen from work??

I'd like to do it in html and without javascript if possible.

And it would just need to work on the computer that has the music. It's for a custom start page.

I did a little searching and didn't find much that just HTML can handle... in fact, I didn't find anything.

How many MP3's did you wanna "randomize"... just trying to come up with the best solution here... depending on how many, an array with filenames in it would work and then you could write the filename to the screen in the source tag of a embedded media player.

I hadn't really thought of how many. It sounds like I'm going to have to use something besides html though. I took a class on javascript, so I guess I know a little but I really don't like it very much. Is there a way to imbed some C++ into my html?

I've already written small programs that deal with randomness, though they don't read from a windows directory or anything like that. And the array data is hard coded...I don't even know where to start.

For the media player...are there any cool ones? Like a media player classic for html or something?
