hey guys i was wondering whether there was any software where you can switch between OS's instead of having to shutdown and then boot from the other one. I'm pretty sure there is one for mac but i need one for the PC
Second Question if i was to instal Virtual PC and then install Windows Server 2003 would it get a seperate IP address to the actual machine so i could still port forward to it?
It would get a seperate internal IP for that computer, I don't think Virtual PC supports network adapter bridging, not sure.
If it doesn't, you could probably forward a port to an internal port on that computer anyway, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. If you're planning on running a server I'd setup VMWare Server 2 (it's free) and use it's virtual bridged card, then you can setup any IP on your internal network that you'd like.
LoL i was just in the process of installing VMware but i think ill go for Virtual PC now you have confirmed it does support network adapter bridging. Cheers Rudi

VMware also allows you to have each PC get their own IP address, or IP tunnel (use the main computer's IP address) you set it in the settings for the VM.
The last version I tried didn't work with Vista - does Virtual PC 2007?
Yes, although I'm not sure about the Home * Editions.

Awesome, thanks. I plan on converting my current machine to a game/file server when I build a new one sometime this year.
Grub allows you to boot multiple operating systems, a virtual machine is not good because you must run another operating systemin order to use it which is going to take up alot of resources.
