I can't make HTML work

I know extremely little about computers, and I've had a Geocities website for ages but it's very basic. And I asked my slightly-more-knowledgable-but-doesn't-know-nearly-as-much-as-she-thinks-she-does friend how I could get transitions like a circle zooming out and vertical and horizontal bars and things, like on Powerpoint, and she gave me a code to paste into somewhere, and I did it, and not only has it not worked but it made everything on the webpage move around and become elongated, and when I tried to put it back how it was it refused to save. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Can you post the code? As for taking out the changes and saving, what do you mean by it won't save...do you mean that the text editor you are changing the file in will not save the new file?

As for the transitions, are you referring to actual moving or animated transitions? If so, you may require some flash or other scripting, which I'm not sure Geocities supports.

To be honest, GeoCities is the worst free host ever.
Try looking for a better free host like freewebs.com.
Like Amadeus said, you may need to use Flash. Or maybe make animated GIF files.
If you have Adove Photoshop with ImageReady use it to make GIFs.
