hello, i have a few questions. first does Autodesk Maya have a UV Mapping editor in it? because i don't want have to use Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro also is 3DS Max and Maya the same thing or completely different programs? my last question is how do i send my model from 3DS Max to my game Engine, like for instance say i made a tank model and it is finished, how do i send the model that is in the 3DS Max program to my game engine so i can start making my game?

Hi there

Maya does indeed have UV mapping, 3DS max and Maya are different, they used to be rival companies but are now owned by the same company.

The main differences between them is the layout, they have most of the same features.

As for your last question this depends on how you export the model files, models can be exported from Maya as obj files, there are many melscript's that will let you export as .x files and even md2 files. when exporting models with a UV map they will export the UV map with them, obj files come with a .mtl file which is a material file that contains texture coordinates and UV maps.

You need to either write your own loader for your engine or get one of the many found on the internet.

Could someone name a loader that can do that i heard about panda X will that do or is there a better one out there?
