Hai, My system is connected via LAN (100.mbps wire); my system is not connecting to any other computer (neither I can access any system nor my system can be accessed by another). To troubleshoot this i checked with LAN Status and it shows Packets Sent is more than 10,000 but receives zero. Please help me how to solve. I would appreciate a lot if any overcome this solution. My system details:
Windows XP2 Norton Antivirus installed network : Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC TCP IP Address has been set correct: 192.168.1.111 255.255.255.0 -Subnet mast 192.168.1.1 -Default gateway
Hope i will get a good solution. If more information need please ask me. Thanks a lot in advance masipro
Start -> Control Panel -> Networking -> Right click the device, check to make sure it's enabled.
You could disable it & re-enable it, or try selecting repair & see if that solves the issue. Is there another device on the lan with the same ip? I find it interesting that you have an ip address, but show zero packets received.

I disabled and re-enabled the same, also selected to repair but problem persists.
First and foremost, I'm assuming your connected to the same switch and router, and since you have posted the ip, sm, and default gateway you must know at least what they are (assumption).
So, the solution will probably be 1 of 2 things in my experience.
1. Make sure you are on the same network (yes, physical connection matters but the computers have to know who is able to access who as well). To do this, right click on my computer and go to properties. Click on the "Computer Name" tab. Now click on "Change Name", and then either add them to the domain (if you have a dedicated server for this networking business which you probably don't) or add your computer (and all of the others) to the correctly named Workgroup. The name of the workgroup on all of the computers must match exactly. Now restart the computer.
2. Your firewall is blocking access through the port, disable the appropriate firewall option or the firewall alltogether. (The second option assumes you have already completed the first).

This Problem started after i re-crimped the network wire. Though I crimped both end to be paralleled, also lan status (shows) found to be connected. May it be my crimping problem. ? if so please let me know what is the procedure while crimping.
