I had an interview for a job in New York City once. I believe it paid $75k. I didn't think that was too low, but I may not have as good of taste as you have smile.gif

One could always commute from Jersey.

Really? When it costs you a bundle even before you leave your car?

Then there's the cost of the commute, or the even more outrageous cost of a decent apartment. I suppose if the job comes with a good apartment within walking distance, then the pay would be good.

Starting salary for a NYPD officer is $35,000. I went through the motions and was a weekend away from taking the job. One stipulation is that you are required to live in one of the five burroughs.

It is good to know a opensource PHP developer makes more than America's finest.

You could also live in Jersey as said before use the Lincoln Tunnel Park & Ride for $8.00 a day and get a MTA Transit pass for $27.00 a week. So yes $75,000 is a good figure considering you can live in Hackensack or even further out if you wanted to and commute via mass transit.
