ERROR: ORA-01033:, ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

Quick and Dirty Joined: 11 Jul, 2007 Posts: 5,465 Thanked: 105 times Dream Kudos: 775 Expert In: Basketball My Contributions	I tried to connect to a database and got this error. QUOTE ERROR: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress I tried exiting and restarting Oracle, but it still gives the error. How do I fix this? Should I uninstall and reinstall Oracle?

I tried that, but it said "Not connected" As if I didn't know that, lol. I think I'll try reinstalling Oracle and see if that fixes it. Reinstalling and choosing the option to repair did not fix the error. Uninstalling and reinstalling Oracle did fix it.
