"Pay to download what the big studios will have decided I can access, while not being possible to access creations nobody releases anymore? Pay to see a show from another country, years after the initial release, with crappy subs or worse, dubbing? Pay to discover if I like something or not, to see if I can later buy it in material and durable form, then paying again (just be serious: this is like paying just so to know if an unlabeled box contains dog food or pastas, in a supermarket, and paying again if this is what you want)?"
Has anyone considered that they just sold it to pay the fines and will not just open another torrent tracker? Lets face it it won't take much spreading around the internet for it to become just as popular. Especially if they advertise it before the new company take over the existing site.
They would have a bit of spare cash as an investment as well!!!
@mars media studio Yeah, & I'm sure you downloaded torrents just to try them. In case you haven't noticed, Dream In Code is a coding forum, made up of professionals in the field, & hopefuls to be. Do you really want to go down that road? We're the very people that piracy is ripping off.
If you want free software, use Open source projects. Other wise, man up or get out. Crying about it here won't get you any sympathy

you don't even know me, i don't download pirated programs for waht you stated above
but when it comes to movies its a diffrent story , i mean why should i pay $5 to go see a movie then 20 to see it when i want, id rather pay 5 to see it once and then download it, its only fair

don't the fat cats have enough money
If you don't want to pay twice, wait till it's released on DVD buy it then and watch it. I am assuming that's what your getting at. Paying the $5 is to pay for cinema costs and also for the privilege of seeing the movie before it is released on DVD. Plus being in the environment a cinema provides to watch a film IMO is worth the $5 regardless of if you then want to buy the DVD etc etc.
EDIT: What your essentially saying is that you value a movie at only $5, plus your allowing the cinema to take a cut of that before it even get's back to the film studio's. I mean I want to see prices go down but still...

thats what the cinema thinks its worth, i mean the 15.00(more avrage price) is for the movie the disk and the case
and then after a few years the movies price is lowerd to $5 again so........ its only worth $5 its a fact

i knew i should of got a demoniod password, now everone will be getting one
I was assuming passwords are for computer software. It isn't that far of a stretch of the imagination. I figured it was either a password crack or some software.
Honestly, the Pirate Bay is just the new version of the old Napster. It's like wack-a-mole. Even though their closed (like previously pointed out) there are literally thousands of others.

demoniod is like the pirate bay but it requires a password to download
any way i think torrents is best now will you buy the shit most of the company try to sell us like the next big hit that you will never forget but when you start the freaking game it is the lame ass shit you ever see and then what 30$ gone (may be more). You download the cracked versions you play 30 min the the program buged and you must restart it if he is worhted when you test it you will buy it becose we all know that the most devolepers release patches to fix some bug so cracked version and patches dont work to well ... so i think torrents must stay

The fact is that things are worth whatever people will pay for them. Furthermore, the fact is that all this material bullshit really isn't even worth a damned thing. Money itself has no value.
There are people who thank god every minute they are alive, or for every meal that they sporadically get to eat, or that there isn't anything worse in the water they drink assuming they get that water in the first place. Yet some people are sitting at computers at this very second thinking, "oh god damnit....WWHHHYYYY WWWWHHYYYYYY?????!!!!! WHY?! GODSLY-BE-JEESUS-WWWHHYYY DO I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT ANOTHER WAY TO STEAL THE SOFTWARE AND THE PORNO AND THE MOVIES AND THE MUSIC THAT I SO DESPERATELY NEED EVEN THOUGH MOST OF IT SUCKS AND IT ONLY TAKES SIXTY SECONDS-O-RUBBIN FOR ME ANYWAYS AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER WAYS IMAGINABLE BUT WWWHHYYY DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE ANOTHER ONE WHYYYY SHOULD I I WAS SO HAPPY STEALING FROM THAT ONE ESTABLISHED PLACE, IT --- .... MY.... WAS PART OF MY FUCKING ROUTINE WWHHYYY?!!!"
A lot of this material that is available through torrent (or good old P2P) is already available for free legitimately, and really isn't even all that good.

It's not really underground when the courts have found them and sued them. The minute even the p2p tourists knew about them, they were doomed.
I'm actually quite impressed that they took what is fundamentally an illegal operation and have rolled it into a legal profit. They were the good kind of thieves, with a strong sense of what their proper code of conduct should be. Makes me think of illicit hackers of old. Seriously, good for them.
Torrent sites and hosts simply wont die. If it becomes more difficult for the n00b to find, thats probably better for all concerned. If you're going to break the law you had better do it consciously. It tweaks me when some nit uses an argument like, "it can't be illegal, it's so easy."
