A book that's free of charge??

Your best bet of learning PHP would be reading the docs at php.net.

Alternatively, I'm sure there's a PHP For Dummies book out there.

I prefer learning from videos, honestly.

Most of them are free, and the ones that are free will teach you what you need to know.

HeadFirst PHP and MySQL is a great book which explains concepts in a pretty straight-forward way, yet with humorous, silly diagrams to keep you engaged. The whole HeadFirst series has never let me down.

You can't go wrong with great documentation, written by the authors of the language.
