what cert next, need some advice on what cert to get next

Hi,
I passed my scjp 6.0 certification last week and was wondering what I should do next. - m about two semesters away from earning my B.S in computer science. I was thinking about learning a little more about assembly and maybe working towards one of the microsoft certs. Anyways, I figured this board would be a good place to get some advice. Thanks for all your input

first off, welcome to DIC. Next to your question, that would depend on your interests..

There are all sorts of Microsoft certs
MCSE,MCAD,MCDBA just to name a few

My particular interest lean me towards the Security certifications
namely Network+, Security+, CEH, CISSP, CCPT and those
I know that some people on this site have some certs so hopefully they will see this post and comment. I do not have any as of yet but I hope to get some

Hi,

thank you for your response. My interests lie in software development/engineering. I was specifically thinking about the MSCE. Other than that I have been looking into the SJCD cert. I just want to be able to put something on my resume that will get me a second look after I earn my degree next year. Thanks for the welcome.

Well certs are a great way to do that..me being in the navy i'll probably get the gov't to pay for me to get some top notch ones for when i decide to get out.

after some searching i came across this, im not sure about your situation if you'll be interested/able to do this but IEEE offers a CSDP (Certified Software Development Professional) i've been a member of their Computer Society for 2 years and i've dropped the name before and it's gotten some raised eyebrows like "Ohhh he's IEEE"
