I just had to share this. They edited out the black man for the Polish version of the website. Here is a cropped comparison:

When I first heard about this, before actually seeing the picture, I almost died laughing. I guess I just expected the man to be a little blacker.

There was an article a long time ago about how Wisconsin University virginia tech ( I think, it was some school)( Ok I have a bad memory) photoshopped a black guy into their crowds of white people to give the illusion of diversity.

I'm going to go off an find that article now.

Got it. http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/farid/research...wmadison1+2.jpg

Original website: http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/farid/research/digitaltampering/

Lots of interesting stuff there ( Just looked at the bottom and it looks like they do update there website.)

Wow, that's epic. A lot of those are interesting, but the ones that bother me the most are the ones that were used for political gain at someone else's expense.

Some bloggers said Poland's ethnic homogeneity may have played a role in changing the photo.

No shit?

Being Russian myself I will admit that blacks are considered an inferior race in that part of the world. So substituting a white man made a positive effect on most Polish visitors. Though I personally wouldn't care.

A giant company like Microsoft should set the right example, and if so, wake Poland up to the world. They will still use Microsoft products no matter who is in the advertisement.

Isn't advertising all about looking nice to potential customers? Then, I wouldn't mind if they put a fair, blondish guy for Polish customers and a Japanese lady for Japanese customers.

Of course, I'd prefer to see the hand changed as well, for an Asian girl with the hands of a black man would be... weirder than my usual preferences.. a little tongue.gif .
