This tutorial shows one very easy way to make an animal's nose twitch. This technique can be used on pictures of mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.

You will need Eye Candy Inner Bevel filter (or another inner bevel filter) for this animation. You can download the Eye Candy filter used in this tutorial here:

Find your picture, and open with UGA. Add a new frame.

To copy and paste your image from frame 1 into frame 2, highlight your object, at the right.

Go to edit, copy. Go to frame 2. Click edit, paste. You should now have two frames of the same image. Leave frame 1 alone. Go to frame 2. Use selection tool, circle.

Select a circular area at the cheek of your animal.

Apply your inner bevel filter.

Adjust the settings so it is kind of light, just a subtle movement is all that is required. These are the settings I used for the rabbit:

Preview.

If it is too dark, or too light, etc, just undo and try again. Keep adjusting the settings until it looks right. Once you get the settings right for the first side, you can leave them the same for the other side and for the nose. You will only have to adjust the lighting (direction and inclination).

Select a circular area at the animal's other cheek, and apply the inner bevel filter again, adjusting the lighting so the filter gets applied mostly to the outer area of the animal’s cheek.

Select a smaller circular area around his nose, and apply the inner bevel filter, again adjusting the lighting so that the filter gets applied to the bottom portion of the circle.

Preview again. If necessary, keep adjusting the settings and previewing until it looks right.

Adjust the timing. Highlight both frames at the bottom, right click on one of the frames and click frame properties. Choose delay, 10 and pick removal method, smart.

To save your animation, click file, save as GIF.
