I have added my site inside my Google account on Google Webmaster Tools [https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en].

It says that my site would now be reindexed for changes however, whenever I search Google with my own name, the second result (under the name Firstname Secondname | Home ) uses a description which I no longer have in my meta. I have changed it at least three times but upto no avail.

Any ideas?

Description tags are bad!

But anyway, yes they do reindex.. Depending on how often the content of your site changes will determine how frequently they revisit your site, a revisit does not mean a reindex, if a substantial amount has not changed.

Could you explain this? Uptil now, the search results show the description I have in those tags.

I change it frequently, though not a substantial amount. How would they know how much has changed? Do they look after so many of those sites?

I removed a search result under my name in Google, hoping that the restored version would present a more recent description. When I restored it, the result lined up at the bottom of all results on that page. Surprisingly, the restored (but misplaced) result showed a description that I had before the current one, but which was more recent than the one that the original result had (before I removed it). When I searched my name again, the result was in its proper place, but now presents the same ancient description. What is all this?

If you are talking about your meta description tag changing, Google pulls from your tag first, then dmoz, then whatever they think is a relevant snippet...OR they can pull an older meta d. tag....

check out some of these expierements-
