I am still new to ruby and haven't learned how to interact with webpages and websites. I have researched some, but my findings were very minimal. Do I have to require 'net/http' or is that just for Ruby on Rails development?

Thanks

Hi there,

I might be wrong, but I think you are confusing server-side and client-side? Ruby on Rails is on the server-side, it creates the web pages. net/http is to read the pages on the client-side.

What do you want to do? If it's the latter, then yes, you're probably going to need net/http.

Sorry I may have worded it incorrectly:

1. I am NOT using Ruby on Rails, I am using Ruby
2. I want to be able to read webpages
3. Do I use the require 'net/http'
4. Again will this work for Ruby, not Rails!!!

Thanks

net/http is a Ruby lib, not a Rails one, so yes...if you want the http lib's functionality you'll need that.
