So if you are a firefox user you have probably noticed that some plugins were recently blacklisted and disabled. I noticed that these were both from Microsoft and so I did a little searching on the issue:

Mozilla Blocks Microsoft Firefox Add-ons for Security
Microsoft Plug-In Makes Firefox Vulnerable

Facts are a little sketchy at the moment but it would seem that Microsoft also discovered the bug (or at least did not cover it up smile.gif ) and Mozilla and Microsoft came to the joint decision to blacklist the plugin.

But one can't help wonder at the potential conspiracy angle(s)...

So did I... Like the boy & the Balloon incident/hoax my mind went right to conspiracy though. Many people recently have been cursing FF and... well wouldn't it be funny if that was no accident. Guess time will tell.

(Although it does not look as though its a conspiracy at this point).

I didn't here anything about cooperation between them and would assume that if microsoft was in on it they would have just patched it like they did with their own stuff.

From what I can tell microsoft forced all windows users with firefox to have the plugin and then they found a vulnerability in their own IE and some other stuff and patched it. All the while firefox remained vulnerable from their forced addon install.

Mozilla should have disabled the addon for all users anyway and then given them an option to enable if they wanted.
