Good Afternoon,

I'm looking for advice on creating a simple bash script on a linux box to check one of my log files.

I have a service that will periodically stop on the server so I'd like to create a script ( I will add it to cronjob) that creates a md5 checksum
of the log file every half hour or so...and compares it to the prior one.

If these two log files are equal...well means that logging has stopped and in turn so has my service.

Most likely an email and/or restart of this service is my ultimate goal.

Just looking for some input and/or pointers.
Thanks.

Nevermind...I was able to write up a script that is working as needed. Thanks.
