I'm working on a simple 2D game in Dark GDK to get used to it. But I'm getting out of ideas for new levels. tongue.gif
I need some inspiration to make new, more difficult levels (to play and to code) and was hoping you guys might come up with some cool ideas. biggrin.gif

The concept of my game is very easy: get your character to the door t advance to the next level. I've inserted some specials blocks
witch move, fall,... if u hit them.

Hope you guys have some cool ideas wink2.gif , THX in advance.

I definitely think to make invisible blocks that you can't move through and some visible blocks that you can move through. Just to make it more of a great game

Along the line of Theaged's post you might consider teleporters. You could also look into adding enemies the player has to avoid. You would not have to do complex AI for them. Just put them between two sets of blocks or on a platform. If they collide with a block or the ends of platform reverse their direction. This would introduce collision between two sprites, an important aspect of 2D games.

What about slippery tiles, or explosive tiles.

or if you stand on a switch the world goes upside down, so ceiling is the floor and the floor is the ceiling, and you and the blocks and enemies fall down to what is now the floor.

Time limits. Like that one game that gave me nightmares for years when I was little, if you stay in the room/level past xxx time, a giant monster/skull thingy came out and chased you and played scary music while your screen flashed *huddles in corner in fetal position* @____@"

Ah, here it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venture_(arcade_game)
