How do I learn PHP if I need SQL?

I would like to learn how to make a website that's more than just static information, maybe a game or maybe just something to pass the time, so I googled what was better, ASP or PHP and no one ever said ASP was better, so I went to W3Schools and downloaded what they said I need for PHP, which is PHP, Apache and mySQL, now W3Schools also says that I have to know mySQL to learn PHP, so I go to learn mySQL on W3schools and it says I need to know PHP!

How am I supposed to learn one when I need the other to do it? Also, how do I get started with Apache and mySQL and all of that stuff XD

Sorry, this isn't a particularly good group of questions XD

You don't need to know MYSQL to learn php only if you want to interact with a database, and to learn php thats one of the last thing you need to know before that you should know the basics and advanced stuff.

here are just a couple things you can search or learn about:

-variables
-classes
-function
-objects
-sessions
-arrays
-including separate files

Actually you can learn PHP first without talking consideration about MySQL. But you have to have a non-database driven website at first. Non-database driven simply means your data being displayed does not come from database.

Try to study the conditions (ie. IF Else, etc), loops and functions. You can have a challenging sample project without the need of database.

Once you are at the comfortable level of making programs using PHP, you can now move on to the next level. Database-driven thats it. You can try making a very simple login form for a start.
