Hi, i am doing electrical engineering at university and as part of the course i have to do software engineering, now normally i would like that as i like programming, but all we are doing is the paperwork side of things, this i have never done. i was wondering if someone had an old document of similar style to the one i am required to make so i can copy the layout and structure, the contents i should be able to manage.

if you can help please do

regards

Iain

Well, I'm going to move this to General Programming.

I'm sure that several people have software engineering documents that you could use as a template (I have thousands myself), but you have asked for

old document of similar style to the one i am required to make

but you have not specified what sort of document you will be creating.

Are you referring to an analysis document? Design document? The business requirements document? Testing plan?

There are several key documents in the software engineering approach...

sorry i forgot to mention this is all the information we were given about what the report is supposed to contain, perhaps you can understand how difficult it is for me to understand exactly how it is supposed to be done when this is the information i'm given
QUOTE

The FINAL REPORT intended to enable a Software Engineer to produce the software must include :-
1. Requirements Definition and Specification of the system
2. A detailed Software Specification/Model using UML or other appropriate method
3. A detailed description of appropriate Objects and their interaction
4. C++ language descriptions of any Classes and their relationships
5. A clear description of the operation of the User Interface you are recommending
6. Some example C++ code illustrating the date/time handling operations you propose
7. A suitable testing strategy for your software with sensible test cases

besides this we are only given the details about how the system is to work, asking you to take that into account to provide me the correct style of document I'm afraid could be considered cheating so I won't say.

Thanks again
