Could somebody please advise me as to which Programming language to use to create a Conversation program like in the film Wargames ......where you can hold a conversation with the computer.......eg..it says 'hello' so you type 'Hello' and so on and so on......I appreciate this is not very exciting but it is just something I would like to experiment with.
Also does anybody know of some example code for conversation programs ?
Please advise.
Thankyou very much

C++ console programming would be really good for that...

I love Wargames smile.gif

For a question: I think C++ would be great for that

I concur that this could be built in almost programming language. If you are simply experimenting, then I'd suggest trying whatever you have handy. Of you have specific ideas about how the response engine would work, then some languages might be more natural fits than others.

I used to write programs like that in Applesoft for the Apple IIE, only I would have it ask you a bunch of questions just so that it could Insult you with the info you provided. hehehe

there are some IRC bots out there that could hold a conversation with real people. Some say that the bots are almost at the AI level. I would recommend tracking one of them down to see if you could use that code for what you want.
Otherwise you can just make the program say what ever you want it to say smile.gif

I thought of doing that before. Would be a fun project - I agree any language would probably be sufficient for that matter.
