Ok what i want to know is what the hell is so special about BLOGS??? the thing is BBC was even showing this half an hour thing about Blogs.... isn't a blog just a webpage???

or have i realy lost the plot here and BLOGS are this way kewl thing that will revolutionise society...

Blogs are not exactly new...they've been a large component of the internet for quite a few years now. They are web pages, but not every web page is a blog. the term blog is essentially the short form of 'web log', where the user (traditionally) writes about their thoughts/experiences on specific subject matter (there are tech blogs, car blogs, sex blogs, personal life blogs, and inumerable more).

They've not really revolutionized society to date, so I don't expect it in the future, but over the years they have come to be considered a form of media, and are now frequently used in both a social networking and news dispersement capacity. There is also a growing trend of using blogs for adverstising.

Only you can decide if blogs are special. You can decide to read them, ignore them, or write one yourself. There are several free blog sites around.

So a blog is just a plain website and people do whateva they want on it???
thats stupid honestly...
fooboo maybe you right mate i should write a Blog on how shitty Blogs are...
still don't understand why they have a special name for a blog (i'm assuming myspace.com hosts blogs?? )
ok i understand why dic has a blog... the myblog option on the left panel... it sorta makes sense...
never tried the option though so maybe i'm writing a whole lot of bullshit..
neways...
yah the bbc was saying how many politician's have started blogs and journalists...
they also sed that a french politician actually won alot of votes because of his blog entries. smile.gif
sum wierd shit...

I like technical blogs etc. but I have found a lot of personal blogs are pretentious and self indulgant.

I tried writing one once then realised I'm boring as shit, why would anyone want to read about me? So I stopped after the first post.That made me realise that the people who write the 'about my life' style blogs get to that same point and plough straight on so they must either be genuinely interesting (small percentage) or totally up themselves (larger percentage) to think they are important/interesting enough for people to read about.

(I'll post script this to, try to avoid offense, with the re-iteration that I am talking about blogs that are entirely a run down of someones life not the ones that discuss the news or whatever.)
