You need to run them using the java compiler - not by double clicking on them. What java compiler are you using?

Hmm...there is a tutorial already. It appears as if you may be simply writing files and expecting them to run as applications. this is not the case. A java program can be written using a text editor and saved a .java file. That file must then be compiled (translated, if you will) into a class or executable that will run within the java runtime environment. That class or executable must then be 'executed' or run. One cannot simply type java into a file and then double click on it. Here is a good look at the basics of writing, compiling, and running a program:

You can begin with the sdk...it is available here:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

you are looking for JDK 6.

Once downloaded and installed, you can try the tutorial - it should provide everything you need, but if you have any questions at all, please feel free to post them here on the forum.
