Sorry if this is the wrong section for this. there are so many sections here that i am not really finding it userfriendly. plus i dont know much about programming except 1 year c+, c++ programming in my 1st year engineering degree.

you know many forums have hide hack code system in which people have to reply in the thread before downloading the hidden file. but in some other forums this hide hack system is not there.

what i wanted to ask the programmers here is that can anything be done in such forums so that people will have to reply and then only the file will be visible to them for download.

If yes then we have struck gold getting rapidshare premium points will become so simple. Can any genius come up with an answer for this

currently i use " [ url=http://file link ][ img ]http://image link[ /img ][ /url ] " code as a substitute for the hide code sometimes.

but it has drawbacks and people are becoming wise to this trick now. only newbies get fooled nowadays.

it's called replying by saying anything? great idea, well no, no it isn't, not at all.

you could do it with cookies, but that is a temporary option as they are updated a deleted regularly on most systems, also anyone with smarts could fake the value to see it without posting.

No bro, I dont use hide code to earn replies but i use it to earn premium points. OK, i will explain properly.
See i know many forums who have about a thousand members online at any given time of the day. in such forums if i open a thread, i just get 1 or 2 replies (from regular members; never newbies) before the thread goes on 7-8 pages or even further after which no one notices the thread and hence no download of my upload and hence no premium points.
Hide code is a solution to this problem, and from here on read the first post of this thread up there

using javascript you create a cookie with a variable in it named say has_replied, and set it to 0, then once they have replied you set it to 1, thus if it is 1 you allow the link to be viewable.
I am guessing this is not your site, and thus not your server you are dealing with, so this method may not be available to you as you will not be able to add code to the add reply button of the site thus updating the cookie.

Are you looking for code to be placed inside a message? Most forums have "things" in place to stop code from being used in here.

reading through the rest of your reply, i guess according to you it is not possible to hide your download link before reply in forums where hide hack code isnt supported....

Does any other programmers have anything to say in this matter or offer any bright ideas to my problem.

If you can't modify the code, you aren't going to be able to add functionality like that. You might be able to do something with flash since flash can communicate with the client, but you won't be able to modify the forum or just do it using an image.

work arround #1: Ok, assuming you can't edit the forum and the "things" the admins have used to stop you from inserting any code into a post have worked what might you do?

Well one way would be to place the actual file on another host where you COULD check to see if a user has replied. That is, the new host has a bot which scans the post to look for the users name, if it is there, let the download begin. Problem #1: how do you know the user's name? I guess you would have to check to see if there were any cookies with that info. The url that you give might also be able to slip this data in there if the forum uses a local varable to hold the user name.

I think though that as soon as the admin saw what you were doing, he/she/they might take action. The more paths they cut the harder it would be to do.

No bro, hosting the file on another host is not the solution. you see for eg, i have a link like " http:\\rapidshare.com\... " . My problem is to find something to hide this link to any forum members before reply.
