pick up a X Box today... along with DOA3 and THPS2X and 4 controllers. this system rocks the house man... runs so smooth and fast... thats what happens when you put a PIII in a game console... you got to try it out.
today, i found out, how close the xbox is to a pc, more so than i could ever imagine. when you buy doa3, you know what you do? you install the first disc on the hardrive then do you know what you get? a blue screen, tellin you to insert disc 2 to install the drivers, why is this? because without this the game wont recognize the #### controllers, which are the the size of giant christmas hams.
honestly i ask, why would anyone, who owns a ps2 already want to get this system? lets take it game by game
xbox:tony hawk 2x << rehash of the first 2 games. ps2:tony hawk 3 << completely original, and online.
xbox:project gotham << yea, you can pull donuts ps2: yea, you can pull donuts, get hundreds of cars, tons of racetracks, upgrade every part of every car.
xbox:dead or alive 3 << on fightin game, half decent ps2:dead or alive 2, tekken tag, tekken 4, virtua fighter 4, eventually doa3 << need i say more?
xbox:p3, geforce << decent graphics, that work in smaller enclosed levels, and come out slightly foggy, similar to the n64 arcitechture, you all know how that turned out ps2:the emotion engine, and a custom processor, slower, but they work together, they were built to work together, nothin else, which is why it works. havent seen a game yet on xbox that couldnt run on ps2 yet
so heres what i say, if you got a ps2, for the love of god, dont a get an xbox, youll get the same ports, but the games that dont go to both, will and are better on the ps2, its not worth it if you own a ps2 already.
if you dont have a ps2, i dont care, get an xbox, good for you, but for the love of god, dont get both, thats a waste of 300 dollars.
if you get any second system, make it the cube, it will have those games weve all come to love, and they wont be on either console, get the best of both worlds.

half of that aint true... there is only one disc to doa 3 and it dont ask you to install... it knows all the buttons... and the p3 and geforce 2 where ment to be together... you put that on a pc and you brag why is it diffrent in a console... the graphics of xbox rip apart a ps2, doa 3 is #### of alot better than tekken or anything like that. ps2 as of now does have better games... but it will change soon enough.. and thps 3 is coming out on xbox... and will have internet and all that good stuff...
ign unplugged #8, page 16- Lord. Must we continue? All right then. I can play the sensationalist game. I guess us youngsters will just have to deal with our kiddie system. But at least it's a console, you know, and not a PC. Heck, why don't you tell everyone what happens the first time you boot up Dead or Alive? A five-minute installation process while it copies to hard drive, that's what. Then the blue screen of death comes up, asks you to reboot, insert "Disc 2" and load new drivers so that the controllers can be recognized. It's a standard process, I hear. Microsoft's "innovation" thus far sure seems to borrow from its Windows-based past. Maybe that explains why the software lineup this year also feels eerily familiar to so many of the PC first-person shooters and simulations I've played -- and grown bored with -- in my early days of gaming.
and that thing bout tony hawk 3, thats exactly what im sayin, why get both systems? there both gonna have a lot of the same games. a lot of ps2's games of today, or xbox's games of tommorow.
and like i said, i dont give a #### if you own an xbox, just please, dont waste the money if you ALREADY own a ps2, that would be a waste.
second of all doa3 isnt crap compared to what tekken 4 and virtua fighter 4 are gonna be like. ive just gotta get that out there.
lastly, i cant honestly name one game, that i would buy an xbox for, no killer app, they give me that, and i may get one, when its on clearence for 100 bucks. :p

thats BS cause i popped in the cd and it loaded right up as if it was a PS2... the HDD is just a large memory card. no installing of drivers...
im not saying dont get an xbox to you vet, im mostly tryin to get my point across to those who own a ps2, if you own a ps2, dont get it, dont waste your money, ports, all yous gonna get is ports.
Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner because I have been plastered to my TV screen playing on my new "big boys" toy! :) I don't know about any of the other XBOX launch titles but HALO KICKS ASS!!! We're talking huge levels! Realistic enemy AI. Teammates capable of shooting something for once (Natalia from goldeneye) and we finnally got out of the corridor shooter!!! I popped in Project Gotham for about ten seconds, took it out and put it back in the case. I've decided I'll give it time, maybe it will seem good to me eventually. I don't agree with EVERYTHING that Sloth said but I'm not going to argue with him because he gave support and a legitimate argument; I'm just tired of people saying "well, xbox sucks because its made by Microsoft" Now one point that I would like to make is that everyone sayse xbox is a computer, well then, what the #### is PS2?!? I mean granted, there are a few things that have been done to this console that are atypical of M$. Like the Copyright notice on the settings screen. But, it's a good system and the launch games weren't all that great but I'm looking in the future, towards Unreal Championship, and other things. (I don't want to list all the others off the top of my head) Most of this stuff is just because M$ is a newbie to this area. But I cannot leave without saying that Halo is one of the most superb 1st person shooters I have ever played, right up there with Half-Life.
i want to get a new system to replace my PS 1 , i was thinking a PS 2 but i heard alot about the x-box , i didnt hear enough though , 1 think i really liked about the PS 2 is that it has DVD support , is this true with X-Box? and my friend said the x-box is $ 200 , and i know it isnt , i dont know what he's smoken , but isnt it like 500 ? 400 ? or something ? what should i get ? X-Box or PS2 ?
yea, ive heard halo kicks ass, and for a minute was really lookin in to it, till i found out its coming out on pc. i have no doubt my machine can handle it.
the thing ive heard about project gotham i dont like, is that #### kudos points system, thats not what an ultra realistic graphics/physics games should be based on, it should be based on wins in races. plus, it only has 25 cars...
marko, really it all depends on the type of games you like. are you lookin for games like halo, doa3, and munch, tony hawk 2x? or mgs2, devil may cry, gt3, grand theft auto, and tony hawk 3? right now, both systems are at 300 bucks, but its said sony will probably cut the price after thanksgiving, although thats not guarnteed, both have dvd support, but for xbox, you need to pay 30 bucks to get the dvd remote.
well , the x-box looks pritty sweet , but the Ps 2 , theres so ment games and PS is well established alredy so i know it wont turn out to be like the sega saturn , and the DVD is a plus becuase im sick of watching them on my PC and my tv out makes it look like crap on my tv , and I MUST HAVE GTA 3 ! and i know for sure its on PS 2 , and i want to get it before it disappears off the face of the earth , then again i like X-box's load the game thing , if that is true ? and you can upgrade the CPU and HD ? at least thats what i heard , and i like how i could play my PS 1 Games on the Ps 2 , thats another plus , but i have time to deside , thankyou sloth :)
you cant upgrade the hard drive or the cpu on the xbox. i am a big fan of the backwards compatability of the ps2 also. you do have time, i would head over to best buy or something and play the demo setups, see what you think.
