What would you need libraries for once you already have a compiler. Are you limited to compiling programs without a library vs. just having a compiler itself?

Standard libraries are included with most compilers. you may wish to use functionalities in additional third party or non standard libraries - if not included with your compiler, you may need to install them. you may wish to program your own additional libraries to hold functionality that you have written that will be useful in other applications.
