is vb a best language for game programming and offline games i dont know java ofcourse but i am going to learn vb

when i think game programming I think c++ and c. I mean you can create games in other languages, but they probably won't be as powerful.

i would have to agree, if you are writing a game it's best to use OpenGL and gcc, or for windows platforms C++ and directx, unless you plan on porting them back to Linux.

As mentioned earlier, C++ and some sort of API (e.g. OpenGL, DirectX..) would be the standard. You could look into using Microsoft XNA and C# as well.

VB is just a simple language used for quick and dirty applications, if you want to develop a big program or a game then stay out of VB. Java or C++ are, in my opinion, the best languages you can use.
