I wasn't able to find an actual generator for Pantone using RGB/Hex but I did find two exhaustive Pantone color tables which should provide just about every color from the Pantone set. Using search in page you should be able to find the hex value and lookup the corresponding Pantone color. From what I have read not every RGB value is going to map directly to a Pantone equivalent.

Enjoy the links.

there is no perfect way to do it.
i used to work for a print company and they charged a ridiculous $49.99 to do a pms match because you pretty much just went through a book and found out what you liked.
its probably your best way.

might want to check out that thread,
there are a couple tricks in photoshop or what not,
but still , most of the people say its not a good idea to use,
because what your seeing and your customer is seeing may be completely different anyways.

If you've got PhotoShop, you can do it with the color picker. Just set the color you want and then click "Color Libraries". It will show the closest match, based on the current color library.

where do i find the color picker?

what i did was use the euedropper tool over the color and then i click on color (set foreground color) and the click on custom, it gives me 7 pantone colors but none of them match even closely to the color, where is color picker? please tell me exactly step by step how to do this

The color picker is what appears when you click the color to edit it. Depending on the color you're trying to match though, you may not get anything close, as mixing light provides a much broader color spectrum than mixing ink. Also, be aware of what color library (or "book") you're using. "PANTONE solid coated" and "PANTONE solid matte" will likely provide the closest matches. Check with your printer to see which is most appropriate for your project.

p.s. Shouldn't this be in the "Graphic Design" forum? wink2.gif
