Rather than writing one that only works in windows, i would like to know what you guys use for reading RSS feeds? Currently the only one that i have is bundled along with VS .Net 2005 and it sucks. It only allows one feed, and doesn't update very reliably. I want something that I can use in Windows as well as in Linux, since I have linux at home and prefer Linux to Windows.

Skyhawk and Psycho, i am glad that you responded in a very timely manner to the issue that i posed, but i guess i wasn't clear. As the google reader does have the ability to have offline reading of rss feeds, what i'm looking for is something in a separate application that works in Linux as well as windows as i have both OS's on my computer at home. The purpose of it would be to keep track of updates to the RSS feeds on the sites that i go to that have RSS feeds enabled (register and this one) so that i can have it running while I'm doing other things and be able to keep track of things that are going on for those sites. I didn't know if there was something like that or if I should write something myself.

Google reader can still do that...

You can add reader to your google homepage, you can have gears installed in firefox and have it constantly download offline items... you can install one of the many RSS extensions for firefox and run it in your sidebar...

Do any of those sound like they'd work, if so I can suggest some extensions for firefox or show you how to setup google reader on your google personalized homepage or even as a live bookmark in firefox so it's just a drop down menu away? (you can do livebookmarks in firefox without even using a reader)

Thank you again skyhawk, I could try it for firefox and see how that works for me. I had installed google gears in IE and it just messed up the IE browser, so i had to reinstall IE.

cause our admins don't know what they are doing wink2.gif

Edit: we are still using IE6 because they say that not everything works with tabbed browsers. not "allowed" to use firefox or any other browser.
