ok, two years ago I bought a Toshiba Satellite, which came with Win98 preinstalled, and a bunch of disks. At the time I noticed that I didn't have "real" win98 disks, but just a recovery disk. I asked a friend about it, who also had a Toshiba, and he assured me that the "recovery" disk would give me a full installation if I needed it. So I didn't bother to pester Toshiba for the real disks. Today, two years later, I finally formatted my laptop and went to reinstall 98, and lo and behold, the recovery disk does NOT contain the full installation. This leaves me with an empty laptop and only win95 disks... *sigh*

So, I'm going to call Toshiba and complain loudly and see if they'll send me a win98 disk. But in the meantime, I'm thinking about other options. Should I upgrade to 2000 or XP? Or should I have some fun and try out Linux? Ideas?

I really don't want to put out the money for a new OS, and new RAM (I only have 32MB) but I guess I may have to.

My poor little laptop is all formatted now....
