I am learning Java so I am completely noob when it comes to V.B. ...

I was messing with some settings on my Microsoft outlook and seem to of found the actual Visual Basic program integrated in it. I played with some code (that I knew from java) just to see if the declarations were the same.

Regardless, my question is...

Is this the SAME V.B. program that I would want to use when I start learning the language? Also, I had NO IDEA it was already installed on my CPU... when did they start having pre-installed software like this in Windows? (btw- qbasic doesnt count lol)

Actually thats not exactly Visual Basic, its VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), which is used for writing macros and the likes in programs like Word, Outlook, Excel and other Office applications.

Awesome, although i don't see the need in it (atm anyhow) I am going to do some research to see what good the macros would be in word or outlook.

Quick question to kind of get me started... would I use the VBA through the program that I am using or would I be able to write a VBA program in say Word and use the macro in Outlook? Cause if thats the case then it would almost be able to write its own programs eh?

I don't know a ton about VBA, but I believe (like I said I could be wrong) that if you write a macro in Word you can use it in Outlook, I think. Let me do some research on that for you smile.gif
