I need to implement a blog to support about 5,000 users. Do any of you have any recommendations?

I would really like to use either .Net AJAX or ASP.Net 2.0

WordpressMU is available just for that. Its basically the same thing as wordpress.com, which you are free to customize. Google it up.

I am going to move this over to software and leave a link here as well.

I can see how this would be difficult to classify.

I personally have installed wordpress for my wife and My blogs. I assume that since I am managing the database and installation that it would handle as much load as I could throw at it. However I only have about 200 unique visits per day.

I have been reading on this wordpress (being I haven't really heard of it) and I don't know that it is very much different than other open source CMS. Can anyone please clarify what makes it different or why I would want it over something else? If this topic has already been spoken of please point me in the right direction.

It's really cool, but Apache/PHP./MySQL

I will use it in a pinch, but was hoping for something that would run on IIS/.Net/MS SQL

hey techknow. I'm creating a blogging solution for .net that you might be interested in. I'll try and set up a demo section over the next week for you to look at.

Otherwise, I know dotnetnuke has some blog resources in vb.net

I will check it out. I have gone DNN, it was just a matter of time.

I like it quite a bit, however it is a bit unwieldy. I am looking forward to tweaking it. I have a few instances set up now. I am very pleased with it. Good call.

In the amount of time this thread has been around. I've more or less completed version one of my content management system.

I fiddle around with DNN, but to be honest, it perlexed me. And I'm no noob when it comes to internetz. I was going to use it to install on clients sites so they could update their site, but the administration seemed like it'd be too intimidating to the unexperienced.

If you want to check my content manager out, send me a pm and I'll get you a login to my test site.

techknow, you might look into using the ning network, it's free and it has blogging and forum capabilities...

it's the network that nablopomo is hosted on.

TuDiabetes is another great example.
