Embedded on the mobo itself is a stripped down version of linux that includes a rebranded firefox skype and basic services, all of which launch before your main os. in a total of 5 whole seconds.

so... for those most basic needs you can be up and running your stuff real quickly, while windows gets going in the background.

real nifty and not just a side project.

Wow. that is really neat. Due to the limitations of the SplashTop, I can't really see it being huge benefit for most people. However, the idea as a whole is awesome and definitely exciting to see the way it could go as far as troubleshooting and recovery etc. Besides, who wants to wait more than 5 seconds if they don't really have to? tongue.gif

I wonder how long it will be before they squeeze Vista onto a chip so that it can boot in 5 secs.
