New D.I.C Head Joined: 8 Oct, 2007 Posts: 2 My Contributions	Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows what programming language was used to create HL2, as I've got a couple of (possibly) great MOD ideas burning holes in my brain and my last brush with programming was a nearly 4 years ago. I've tried searching, though it hasn't given me any straight answers. I'll probably have to learn from scratch (there are alot of non-HL2 features I'd like to add) but I'm looking forward to it anyway

Programming Theoretician Joined: 18 Apr, 2007 Posts: 5,655 Thanked: 313 times Expert In: C/C++, Java, VB, VB.NET, C#, PHP, Web Development, HTML & CSS, Javascript My Contributions	Well the half life 2 engine (called Source Engine) was done in C/C++ on MS VC++ 6 with DX6. That was back in 2000 and now the engine is up to DX9 with Shader Model 3.0 and has OpenGL support on PS3. So in short most of the work is done in C/C++ and DirectX. Hope that is what you were looking for.
