Text manipulation software - help needed please

Hi all,
I'm trying to develop a piece of software/code that can take a text document, and systematically re-arange every letter out of their words, into a continuous alphabetical list, and remove all numbers, and re-arange into numerical order, etc. The problem is, the closest I've ever came to programing something is using actionscript, and don't even know where to begin. If anybody could help me in pointing me in the right direction, or even is interested in helping to develop the software/code I would be most gratefull.
I use a Mac, running OSX 10 (Tiger)

I would say that it is possible with almost all kind of languages, even with scripts, choosing something that looks familiar could save you a lot of time.
Do you have any preference, or have you looked at something already?

Oh that's good news. I've no idea where to start, as I say, I've had next to no experience in this field at all, so even the most elementary stuff is new to me. I guess just the most simple and effective code to do the job will do.

I've done a bit of reading, and I'm thinking C++ looks like a good way to do this. Is it possible with C++? Could someone point me in the right direction?

hi here you have to do two things
  1. searching
  2. sorting
implement it. It is very easy. i have this code.
