Getting your website to top page of google.

How could i do this. I have use the <meta> tag for keywords. When i search for these key words my website is not at the top and it is not even on th efollowing 6 pages. How could i sort this?

Google's search results are based on :
1.) Content
2.) Referals (sites that point to you)
3.) Age of Domain

Simply editing your Meta Tags won't do the 'trick'. Plus, I think Google ignores meta tags for SEO content.

Google "does" look at meta tags, but their worth is almost zero, it is just a quick guide more so then anything. Currently Google looks most at your title page, heading tags and your sites age. The older your site is the more likely it is to rank higher. They call this Trust Rank, which leads to Page Rank, which leads to Google SERP's. Basically as Google says itself if you want high rankings, write your site for humans and not bots. Give your site time and it will start to rank, but always remember to watch your headings, titles, and inbound links.
