Well, my aunt has basically been using a camera that uses tapes instead of DVD's for her movies. She says she uses Nero, has a cord (DCMI I think, can't rightfully remember, but it fully allows acces to camera to computer via USB on one end of the cord).

So, after a while, she has finally let me use it. Sad thing is, my auntie is such a bitch that she gets an attitude and starts huffing and getting sarcastic when I ask her how to use it.

So... any help? I'll give you the details if asked, but I really wanna know if I can do it without a tape, like taping straight to the computer.

What you hav to do is, if im thinking about the correct kind of thing. If take the video onto a tape(sorry, as far as i know you need a tape) and then when done, hook it up to the computer. After that you have a program that will capture whatever is being played back on the camera. So here you have to go into playback mode from the beginning. Then you need to start the playback while the software on the computer is capturing the video. This takes a while seeing as it has to play the whole video from start to finish. Thats how the video camera i use works, but its not too bad if your taking 5-10 minute clips.

If you're not recording on a tape, you're not running a timecode.
If there's no time code editing software won't pick up a signal.

I suggest that, capture a video that is directly saves into the memory stick of a digicam.
Then use any compatible cable to connect to your computer, and copy then paste it to your folder.
